Right here in Vancouver, Washington, and throughout Clark and Cowlitz counties, foster teens are aging out of the system every year facing a reality most of us never had to consider. At 18, many are expected to step into adulthood without a permanent family, without financial stability, and without a clear path forward. The result is heartbreaking and preventable—too many local foster youth experience homelessness, unemployment, or involvement with the justice system within their first year of independence. This isn’t because they lack motivation or ability. It’s because they lacked consistent support when they needed it most. This is the local problem 100 Hands for Foster Care exists to help solve.

100 Hands for Foster Care was created to rally the Vancouver, Clark County, and Cowlitz County communities around one shared belief: foster teens deserve more than good intentions—they deserve real opportunity. Our mission is rooted in compassion, consistency, and action. We bring together individuals, businesses, and community leaders to provide financial support, education, mentorship, and practical resources that help foster teens transition into adulthood with dignity and confidence. When our local community shows up together, lives don’t just improve—they change direction.

As we head into 2026, our goals are bold and intentional because the need is real right here at home. We are building a committed group of people who give quarterly and stay engaged year-round, creating sustainable funding for foster-focused nonprofits serving Clark and Cowlitz counties. Through community giving, matching donations, and local partnerships, our goal is to raise meaningful resources that directly support education programs, emergency needs, and stability-focused initiatives for foster teens. Every dollar raised stays local. Every effort is designed for long-term impact, not short-term relief.

Education is at the heart of what we do. In Vancouver and the surrounding communities, we are focused on helping foster teens learn essential life skills—budgeting, goal setting, housing options, and planning for their future—so they are not forced to navigate adulthood alone. We are also committed to reducing foster youth homelessness locally by surrounding young adults with guidance, mentorship, and people who genuinely care. Success, to us, looks like stabilized housing, growing confidence, and foster teens who believe they belong in this community and have a future worth building.

 What makes 100 Hands for Foster Care different is simple: we don’t disappear after a fundraiser. We show up consistently in Clark and Cowlitz counties through hygiene drives, foster teen gift card drives, education classes, mentorship opportunities, and partnerships with organizations already doing incredible work on the ground. This is not charity from a distance—it is local people helping local youth, year after year.
